XICAR® Sintered Silicon Carbide (SSiC) Thermocouple Protection Tubes are the ultimate high-performance sheaths for direct and indirect temperature measurement in the harshest non-ferrous environments. Manufactured from premium pressureless-sintered silicon carbide, they deliver unmatched thermal stability with a maximum operating temperature of 1650 °C in air and 1900 °C in controlled atmospheres – far exceeding most traditional ceramics and metals.
Available in lengths up to 3,000 mm and outer diameters up to 300 mm, these tubes are ideal for use with Type R or S thermocouple elements in molten brass, copper, cast iron, stainless steel, silicon metal, and other aggressive melts. Typical applications include furnace walls/roofs, launders, pouring troughs, blast furnaces, incinerators, and any process where extreme heat, chemical corrosion, abrasion, and thermal shock would destroy ordinary protection tubes.
