Premium Sintered Silicon Carbide Products

XICAR® high temperature sintered silicon carbide (SSiC or Hexoloy SE alternative) is highly resistant to chemical corrosion, can be used up to a temperature of 1,900° C and offers high mechanical hardness. Thus, it can provide a cost-effective solution for many processes in various industries.

XICAR® Properties

  • Maximum temperature of 1,700 °C  in air and up to 1,900 °C in a controlled atmosphere
  • Maximum length up to 3,000 mm with a maximum OD of 300 mm
  • XICAR® thermocouple protection tubes are for both direct as well as indirect temperature sensing in molten metal (e.g. furnace wall or roof) temperature        reading with Type R or S elements in molten brass, copper, cast iron, stainless steel or silicon metal
  • For temperature measurements in non-ferrous launders or pouring troughs
  • Better or equal quality than HEXOLOY SE tubes.

Description

XICAR®  high temperature sintered silicon carbide (HEXOLOY alternative) industrial products and solutions for use in the non-ferrous industry up to 1,900° Celsius in a controlled atmosphere.

High Temperature Sintered Silicon Carbide (SIC) Products and solutions provides a unique combination of physical properties, including high mechanical strength, toughness, excellent thermal shock resistance and resistance to corrosion. As a result, it is ideal for applications involving exposure to high-temperature liquids such as alloy melts and exposure to hot gases, with applications in mineral and chemical processing kilns and furnaces.

Premium Sintered Silicon Carbide Products Sialon Ceramics

HEXOLOY has been a standard sintered silicon carbide (SIC) material throughout the ceramics industry for many years. It is available in several grades depending on the material’s specific densities, resistances, and grain structures, each with its preferred applications. HEXOLOY SE, which has extreme temperature resistance and resistance to thermal shock, is used in applications that demand corrosion resistance and extreme temperatures up to 1,900 C. Where to buy comparable sintered silicon carbide products like hexoloy?

At Sialon, we have developed an alternative high temperature sintered silicon carbide (SIC), XICAR, that performs at least as well or better than HEXOLOY products while offering significant price advantage.

We are now offering a range of sintered SIC products in this revolutionary new material, including thermocouple protection tubes, crucibles, and heater elements. We also tailor new XICAR products in collaboration with our customers.
