Sialon Heater Tubes

Sialon Heater Tubes

Sialon Heater Tubes

Silicon Nitride Tubes for use in in-line degassing boxes such as ALPUR® TS15, TS35, TS55, TS75, TS90, G3 cc Line degasser, SNIF, Hertwich.

We offer a wide range of twenty grades of advanced ceramic silicon nitride and Sialon immersion heater tubes for use in aluminium and non-ferrous molten metal handling industries. Fine silicon nitride and sialon foundry products offer long life and are cost effective compared to competitive materials, such as cast iron and refractory ceramics, such as silicon carbide and aluminium titanate. Sialon is an alloy of silicon nitride and combines excellent thermal and mechanical properties. Sialon has found extensive use in non-ferrous molten metal applications as a result of its high strength, toughness, thermal shock resistance, corrosion resistance and its non–wetting properties in contact with aluminium and its alloys.

Sialon Heater Tubes for Aluminium Foundries – 20+ Grades, Up to 3 Years Service Life, Non-Wetting Protection for Immersion Heaters.

Sialon ULTRA™ Heater Tubes are the industry-leading immersion heater protection tubes for aluminium and non-ferrous foundries. Manufactured from advanced silicon nitride-based Sialon ceramics (Si₃Al₃O₃N₅), they offer exceptional thermal shock resistance (550–900 °C), non-wetting surfaces, low thermal conductivity and outstanding corrosion/erosion protection – outperforming cast iron, silicon carbide and aluminium titanate by up to 30 % longer life.

Customers routinely achieve 2–3 years of continuous operation with minimal cleaning. Perfect for protecting immersion heaters in ALPUR® TS15/TS35/TS55/TS75/TS90, SNIF®, Hertwich, G3 cc Line in-line degassers and Striko Westofen dosing systems. The unique Sialon composition (partial substitution of silicon by aluminium and nitrogen by oxygen) delivers superior properties compared to pure Si₃N₄, ensuring clean, closed dosing systems that prevent contamination and maintain highest metal purity.

Full technical specifications (ULTRA™ grades 001–004):

  • Bulk density: 3.1–3.3 g/cm³
  • Water absorption: 0 %
  • Flexural strength: 580–1,020 MPa
  • Vickers hardness: 12.7–15.0 GPa
  • Fracture toughness: 4–7 MPa·m¹/²
  • Young’s modulus: 270–300 GPa
  • Coefficient of linear thermal expansion (40–800 °C): 3.2–3.5 ×10⁻⁶/°C
  • Thermal conductivity (20 °C): 23–54 W/(m·K)
  • Heat shock resistance: 550–900 °C
  • Volume resistivity (20 °C): >10¹⁴ Ω·cm

Since 1986, these heater tubes have been the preferred choice for foundries seeking maximum reliability, lowest maintenance and best price/performance ratio. They integrate perfectly with Sialon immersion heaters, riser tubes and degassing systems. View Sialon Heater Tubes – 20+ grades, custom lengths, diameters, flanges and mounting options available.
